The Consorzio Tutela Vini Doc Friuli Aquileia was established in 1976, and currently has a group of about twenty members. <\/span><\/p>

The vineyard surface area is around 450 hectares. The task of the Consortium is to protect the production, the specific features and the thousand-year history of these lands, through the continuous specialization of the wine growers and a careful knowledge of the land.<\/span><\/p>

Pedoclimatic characteristics<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The climate of Aquileia DOC is mild and breezy<\/strong>, particularly gentle and enjoys the significant influence of the sea that laps the southern part of the DOC.<\/p>

Temperatures are mild for seven months of the year, summers are hot and springs are rainy. A good diurnal shift is decisive for the development of aromas<\/strong>, and allows the grapes to strengthen their characteristics and the wines to intensify their pleasantness.<\/p>

The soils are made up of the fine alluvium repeated over millennia and are differentiated between sandy and clayey soils and marly sandstone elements, derived from the hills by the alluvium. A remarkable variety of soils<\/strong>, where even in the same plot decisive differences are visible, is a primary characteristic of the DOC Aquileia.<\/p>

These rich, fertile and dry soils, combined with favourable climatic conditions, have been suitable for growing vines since ancient times.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The history of wine production and marketing in Aquileia has its roots in the Roman Republic, as shown by the numerous findings in the city museum.<\/p>

Aquileia\u2019s commercial vocation, aided by its port and position, allowed it to become a reference point for trade with the populations of the eastern part of the Empire beyond the Alps and the Danube in the Augustan age: it was in Aquileia that these populations were supplied with wine.<\/p>

The history of these lands turns out to be the deepest part of its soul, promising great charm and mystery.<\/p>
