WHITE WINES
Bianco
D.O.C. wine made from grapes, must or wines of one or more of the white-skinned grape varieties described, excluding Traminer and Müller Thurgau. The characteristics depend on the type of grape variety used.
Chardonnay
Pale-yellow wine with greenish tinges. Very tenours bouquet, sprightly of bread crust. Its fresh fruity flavour makes this wine ideal as an aperitif and as a companion to lean hors-d´oeuvres and fish dishes.
Malvasia istriana
Colour: straw yellow. Bouquet: pleasant and fruity. Suitable for making lightly sparkling wine. Ideal with light appetisers, pasta and risotto.
Müller Thürgau
Colour: straw yellow. Bouquet: fruity and intense. Taste: dry and round. Suitable for making lightly sparkling wine. Ideal as an aperitif wine or with light appetisers or fish.
Pinot bianco
Light yellow to golden colour; delicate scent of flowers. Suited to appetizer, hors - d'oeuvre, risotti and fish.
Pinot grigio
Light copper coloured yellow with persistent and intense scent. Dry taste, gentle, rich, pleasantly bitter. Suited to soups, fish and white meat.
Sauvignon
Pale-yellow wine with aromatic, delicate bouquet with a hint of yellow pepper and muskmelon. Ideal wine with hors-d´oeuvres, ham, pasta and fish dishes.
Spumante
Colour: light straw yellow. Bouquet: lively and persistent. Taste: characteristic, delicate and pleasant.
Riesling
Pale-yellow wine with greenish tinges. Very tenuous bouquet, sprightly, dry, with faint hints of apricot, peach and blueberry. Ideal wine with shellfish and fish dishes.
Friulano
Light yellow colour and intense scent of bitter almond. Suited to appetizer, light hors-d'oeuvre soups, cheeses, eggs, fish.
Traminer aromatico
Wine of intense pale-yellow colour with a fragrant bouquet reminiscent of vanilla and linden blossoms. Finely aromatic flavour, with an aftertaste of bitter almond. Excellent with hot hors-d´oeuvres, spicy fish dishes and savoury cheeses.
Verduzzo friulano
Slightly tannic golden-yellow wine with a bouquet of acacia blossoms and honey flavour. Verduzzo is the typical dessert wine.
